An Alberta man is facing eight charges in a carjacking in downtown Vancouver said to involve actress Carly Pope.
Police say Tuesday’s incident began with a screaming man running up to a BMW at an intersection and jumping on the hood of the car, driven by a 31-year-old man with his 29-year-old sister as a passenger.
When the driver got out, the man jumped inside, put the car in reverse and slammed into five other cars before crashing into the CBC building.
The suspect is said to have suffered a concussion in the crash, while the original driver of the car, his sister and another man were injured and taken to hospital. All have since been released.
A national news agency and the celebrity website TMZ say the woman in the car was 29-year-old Vancouver-born Carly Pope. They said her brother Kris had been driving before the incident began, but the police refuse to confirm any of that.
Carly Pope, who splits her time between Vancouver and Los Angeles, has appeared in several movies, including Orange County, Beneath and Toronto Stories, and TV series like 24, Californication and Robson Arms.
