Alec Baldwin to Quit Acting in 2012

Alec Baldwin has announced he plans to quit acting in 2012. Baldwin, who stars on NBC’s 30 Rock, tells the Mens Journal he has lost interest in acting and plans to find another career when his contract with NBC expires in 2012.

“I don’t have any interest in acting anymore. I’m not young, but I have time to do something else,” Baldwin, 51, says.

Baldwin, who has won 3 Emmy Awards for his role on 30 Rock, admits he feels his movie career is a failure. “I consider my entire movie career a complete failure. The goal of movie making is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that,” he explains.

Baldwin most recently starred in My Sisters Keeper alongside Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin. He appears next in Its Complicated with Meryl Streep and Steve Martin.
