George Clooney was worried that his khakis-and-Hawaiian-shirts wardrobe in ‘The Descendants’ ruined his masculinity.

In the movie, the actor looks considerably less dapper than usual. Not only is his hair far grayer than in real life, his character’s clothing choices are downright suburban.

“I know! Yeah, that was almost ending all masculinity,” the New York Post quoted Clooney as telling the website Celebuzz at the Critics Choice Awards.

“The minute you pull the khakis up about there, and the Hawaiian shirt tucked in to down there… It will change the way I live, unfortunately,” he said.

Luckily, the ‘dad’ wardrobe in the movie has not sullied his playboy reputation. Last night, he beat out friend Brad Pitt for Best Actor at the Critics Choice Awards.

Meanwhile, his new relationship with Stacey Keibler appears to be going full-steam ahead. The pair has traveled together to the Mexican resort town of Cabo San Lucas three times in a span of two months.

You can pretty much set your watch to it: every fall, without fail, George Clooney ups sticks and brings his latest bikini-ready piece of arm candy to the warmer climates of Cabo San Lucas.

Almost exactly 12 months ago, it was Elisabetta Canalis’ turn. And now? It’s Stacy Keibler’s.

The duo was caught together in Mexico along with a big group of friends (so much for an intimate romantic rendezvous…George tends to travel both in style and en masse) for the start of their vacation.

But it seems like Clooney may have headed down early, as he warmly greeted Keibler with a hug as she got off the plane.

The vacation will no doubt be a welcome one for George, who just finished his mammoth international press tour for The Ides of March.

It’ll also be a welcome one for bikini bod watchers of the world. Countdown to the inevitable torrent of beach shots starts…now!

Of course, it wouldn’t come as a complete shock. After all, this is George Clooney we’re talking about here.

Just weeks after placing himself back on the market upon splitting with Elisabetta Canalis, the rumor mill has been working overtime with talk that the actor will have a brand new piece of arm candy when he hits up the Venice Film Festival next month.

So, will Clooney be canoodling with some cutie in Italy? Well, according to the man himself, this story is…

So false!

“The Italian press, from Corriere Della Sera to TGCOM, Ansa, NewNotizie, Sky.it and even Vanity Fair are all running a story that quotes me as saying that I’m bringing a ‘new girl’ to the Venice Film Festival,” says Clooney in a statement sent to E! News. “I never made that statement and it’s not true. It was made up to sell tabloid magazines. It’s a ridiculous lie and should be corrected as publicly as it was originally written.”

Then again, had this rumor been true, it definitely would have felt a bit like déjà vu seeing how this film fest is the very same one where, two years ago, Clooney made his first public appearance with, yep, Canalis.

Yeah, probably best to just wait for another big event to roll around before debuting a possible love interest. Otherwise, it’s just kinda weird.

Hollywood heartthrob actor George Clooney has split from his Italian girlfriend of two years Elisabetta Canalis, the ex-couple said on Wednesday. “We are not together anymore. It’s difficult and very personal, and we hope everyone can respect our privacy,”they said in a joint statement cited by a magazine.

A spokesman for 32-year-old Elisabetta added, “It is a very personal and sad matter, and Elisabetta wants it to remain that way. She will take some time and will then face the press. She has not authorized me to say when the split happened.”

The celebrity couple was first seen in public at the Venice Film Festival in 2009, and had been spotted together in Italy as recently as last week, the magazine reported.

George, the handsome star of movies such as Ocean’s Eleven and an Oscar winner for his supporting role in the film drama Syriana, has been one of Hollywood’s leading bachelors since his days on TV hospital drama ER.

The 50-year-old actor, voted Sexiest Man Alive by a magazine in 1997, was married to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 93, but has downplayed the chances of getting hitched again. “I gave it a shot,” said George, whose girlfriends included Renee Zellwegger.

When George was younger, Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman both bet US $10,000 each that he would be a father before he turned 40. They were both wrong, and each sent him a cheque, according to a movie industry database. George, however, returned the money, betting double or nothing that he wouldn’t have kids by age 50, which he turned in May this year.

Meanwhile, George’s The Ides of March, a thriller about a US presidential campaign, will open this year’s Venice Film Festival and will compete for the coveted Golden Lion award, organizers said.

Evidently when Kendrick returned from the Twilight set to film with Clooney he told her; “This isn’t the Twilight set.  You’re not working with Mr. Handsome.”  All in good fun, Anna decided to tell Pattinson who autographed his April GQ Cover for Clooney.  He added a note that said; “To George- Best of Luck.  Hang in there.  Love, Rob.”

After receiving this bundle full of joy, George Clooney returned the favor by signing his May 2009 Esquire cover for Rob that read; “Dear Rob: Thanks for all the inspiration.  I’m a huge fan.  Love, George (two-time Sexiest Man Alive).”  Needless to say they were enjoying the little tiff, but it was all in good fun.

An insider told the Daily Star that Clooney was set up on the date by a mutual friend.

However, the source alleged that the evening was a disaster because of Madonna’s jokes.

“He figured she is a smart, accomplished woman, so why not give it a try?” the insider explained. “They went out for dinner in New York but it turned out really bad. She kept trying to make jokes that weren’t at all funny the entire time and didn’t want to have a real conversation. He couldn’t wait to get out of there.”
