Jennifer Aniston is Force Behind Paparazzi Law

New legislation that cracks down on the practices of the paparazzi will go into effect Jan. 1, and actress Jennifer Aniston is getting much of the credit for the changes.

Assembly Speaker Karen Bass (D- Los Angeles) said Aniston’s activism was key to the success of Assembly Bill 524.

Bass said she wrote the bill after hearing horror stories from Aniston about the paparazzi. Aniston said she’s been charged on sidewalks and chased by photographers in SUVs who ran red lights and even blocked in her car.

The actress put together a group of celebrities and entertainment security experts to make a case to the Assembly leader.

Specifically targeted by the law are photos and video featuring people “engaging in personal or familial activity” where they have “a reasonable expectation of privacy.”

The law allows for civil penalties of up to $50,000 against members of the paparazzi and media outlets that buy and sell “unlawfully obtained” photos and video of celebrities and their families.

The measure was signed into law in October by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Horrible stories thanks to the extra-active performances of the paparazzi are not fewer at present. The most objectionable point of consideration is that these people are not ready to allow privacy of a person who has been a celebrity for the hard works done by him/her. The march from Maradona to Prince Diana has been a long course. Still there is another point. Celebrities have a demand to remain highlighted always by the media and this is an advantage of the media to intrude.
