Joanna Krupa came under fire this week after unveiling a provocative PETA ad - in which she wears only a cross - deemed “totally inappropriate” and exploitative by the Catholic League.
The outrage is exactly what the Dancing with the Stars alum expected and wanted, she tells TVGuide.com, because controversy is “the only way” to alert others to a cause.
“Sometimes I am ashamed of being a human being because of what we created and how we hurt the defenseless and less fortunate,” Krupa says.
”That is shocking and despicable to me. All I’ve done is to raise awareness through a controversial ad that I am truly proud of.”

Joanna Krupa is a talented dancesmith. Her concern for the people in deplorable condition may be comprehended. Her way of developing awareness for the world wretched by all of us is sure to invite debates. We do not know how much she will be paid for such a provocative PETA ad holding the cross to cover her sexual physical part. I doubt what kind of awareness will be given birth by such an act.
‘Sometimes I am ashamed of being a human being’ when I find people do not understand end should justify the means.
I love it when celebrities like her jump on some bandwagon and try to make some kind of impression on the public. In this instance, her comments about being ashamed to be a human is totally laughable. If she is so ashamed, then maybe she should leave the human race?
I’m not terribly offended by the PETA ad, but perhaps she could have chosen to do the coy-coverup bit to hide her breasts and privates that wouldn’t have insulted more conservative or pious Catholics.
As for he comment, I think she is genuinely concerned but, because she’s so young, she might have become a bit too exaggerated in her moral outrage.
The cause is genuine but the picture is inappropriate, the picture is like an album for a metal band. She could spread awareness for animals but not in this way, The catholic church will have a lot to say to that.
With her comment ” the only way to alert the cause” made my laugh. That’s not the only way, there are other ways. It seems her comment is not that substantial any more.
I do not have a problem with this ad
As an ardent follower of religion, I strongly condemn use of the savior symbol, ‘The Holy Cross’. Everybody appreciate for others care towards PET and other animals, but since you have the opportunity with media to expose your attitude is not to be taken for granted to exploit religion.
Then again, I really don’t like it when I see really badly written comments along the lines of naturelover’s. Seems that it smacks of intolerance and religious fanaticism, but it’s also pretty convoluted and hard to understand.
