Candace Bushnell has tipped teen pop singer and actress Selena Gomez for a role in the oft-rumoured Sex and the City prequel.
The author, who penned her first Sex and the City column back in 1994, said that she could easily see the Monte Carlo star playing Charlotte York in a prequel based on her novel The Carrie Diaries.
“I’m going to get in trouble for this, but I was looking at some pictures of Selena Gomez today and thinking she’d make a really good young Charlotte,” Bushnell told the Daily Caller earlier this week. “She’s so pretty. I was like… gosh, wouldn’t she be great?
“Am I right or wrong? I’m not good at this. If I say something like that, then the next thing I know people are like, ‘no!'”
Despite uncertainty over the future of the film franchise, Bushnell said that Sex and the City will definitely be back in one form or another.
“Definitely something on the screen,” Bushnell teased. “Big or small screen.”
Bushnell added she enjoyed both Sex and the City feature films and praised Michael Patrick King for his role in continuing the HBO series.
Both Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis have spoken of their disapproval regarding the idea of a prequel film.
